"Most of the music on First Light is on the dark side. Songs on a lighter note usually end up somewhere in between or shift in that direction. The project/band name Dark Pale made sense and finally ended frustrating brainstorming that was revisited over the years. It could have something to do with being nocturnal and watching the night transition to day for as far back as I can remember. The world is all yours while everyone sleeps. You can focus on anything without distraction.

Compared to writing music, lyrics can sometimes be the greater challenge. Love songs are an easy way out. Boy meets girl... girl leaves boy... boy murders girl... And there's that "Dark" side popping up again. I don't hate on it but do believe it's best left to people like Lennon who summed the entire subject up in a song called... wait for it... "Love!" If his was the only song ever written about it, we may have never needed another.
